Punk Povera Gallery Talk, 20 February, 2:00 pm

Saturday, 20 February, 2:00 pm
Join us for a curatorial walk-through and informal gallery talk that will include the participation of many of the artists in the Punk Povera exhibition, including Albert Lopez, Sergio Torres Torres, Nicholas Kersulis, Ed Gomez, Jason Triefenbach and Gary Cannone.

Punk Povera
Opening:  16 January, 2016, 6 – 9:30 pm
Continuing:  13 January – 21 February, 2016

This group exhibition investigates formal and conceptual intersectionalities between Punk Rock and Arte Povera. Although removed from each other in time and place, these two movements were founded on shared principles: a DIY aesthetic, a rejection of consumerism, the privileging of worthlessness, anti-elitism, collective experience, street theater, and a lack of material wealth.

Artists:
Gina Arizpe, Steven Bankhead, Daniel Aguilar Ruvalcaba, Cristóbal Gracia, Iván Krassoievitch, Irisdan Corley and Mike Kelley, Gary Cannone, Carla Danes, Ed Gomez, Luis G. Hernandez, Bridget Kane, Jason Keller, Nicholas Kersulis, Thomas Lawson, Albert Lopez, Joaquin Segura, Manuel Solano, Sergio Torres Torres, Jason Triefenbach
