As “price of admission,” the public is invited to reap and contribute language from their garbage (cardboard, tin, plastic, paper, cellophane, etc.)—preferably washed of debris and measuring 1-inch tall or higher. These words will be collected at the entrance slit and incorporated into an installation in progress in the gallery.

Will Alexander: poet, novelist, essayist, aphorist, playwright, visual artist, pianist. He is author of well over 20 books, and is a Whiting Fellow, and a California Arts Council Fellow, as well as an Oakland PEN Award winner, and an American Book Award winner.

Jonathan Skinner founded the journal ecopoetics. His publications include the books Chip Calls (Little Red Leaves, 2014), Birds of Tifft (BlazeVOX, 2011), Warblers (Albion, 2010) and Political Cactus Poems (Palm Press, 2005), and the essays “Thoughts on Things: Poetics of the Third Landscape” (eco language reader, 2010) and “Gardens of Resistance: Gilles Clément, New Poetics, and Future Landscapes” (Qui Parle, 2011). Skinner currently is writing about Frederick Law Olmsted and researching cross-species communication. He teaches in the Department of English and Comparative Literary Studies and in the Writing Program at the University of Warwick.
